Film and Ethics Series

The BIG ARTS Film and Ethics Series presents "Passengers" at 12:30 p.m. at the Island Cinema, at 535 Tarpon Bay Road, Sanibel. Ronald M. Green, emeritus professor of religion at Dartmouth College and an expert on ethics, will moderate a post-event discussion surrounding the film that deals with ethical dilemmas. New Moon Meditation

A New Moon Meditation class will be held at 5 p.m. on South Beach on Captiva. Enjoy a guided meditation on the beach as the sun sets and the moon rises. Bring a towel or blanket to sit on. Are You Walking Around in a Fog?

F.I.S.H. of Sanibel-Captiva, in partnership with Brain and Mind Care, will host the program "Are You Walking Around in a Fog?" from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at the Sanibel Congregational United Church of Christ, at 2050 Periwinkle Way. Neuropsychologist Dr. Mabel Lopez will discuss the importance of sleep, why one may have sleepless nights and how to get the amount of sleep and rest one's body and brain needs to function at its optimal capacity. Book signing

Author James Anderson will hold a book singing for "Lullaby Road" from 4 to 5 p.m. at MacIntosh Books and Paper, at 2330 Palm Ridge Road, Sanibel.

It will be an informal meet-and-greet with light refreshments.

Anderson wrote "The Never-Open Desert Diner," first published in 2015.

Experience Virtual Reality

Explore a vivid underwater world full of sea life from 3 to 4 p.m. at the Sanibel Public Library, at 770 Dunlop Road, Sanibel. The 5-10 minute HTC Vive VR experience features coral reef, whale encounter and deep sea. For ages 10 and over. One user per session; first come, first served. No registration is required.

Shell Point Farmers Market

Shell Point Retirement Community will host a Farmers Market from 8:30 a.m. to noon in the Center Court at The Woodlands, at 15101 Shell Point Blvd., Fort Myers. Adults Night Out

The Sanibel School PTA will host Adults Night Out from 6 to 10:30 p.m. at The Community House, at 2173 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel. Larry Klass and Leon Novembre with the national group Felix and Fingers will perform on the dueling pianos. Annual Veterans Day Ceremony

Hosted by the Lee Coast Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America and city of Sanibel, the Annual Veterans Day Ceremony will start at 10:30 a.m. at City Hall, at 800 Dunlop Road. Fred Bondurant, past chapter president of the Lee Coast Chapter of the MOAA, will officiate. This year's guest speaker will be Michael Macray, who will speak about the World War 1 Armistice Agreement, which occurred 100 years ago on Nov. 11, 1918. The BIG ARTS Concert Band will provide the music.

37th Taste of the Islands

The Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife will host its 37th Taste of the Islands from 12:30 to 5 p.m. at the Sanibel Community Park at 2231 Periwinkle Way. Thirteen restaurants will offer an array of menu items for six CROW Bucks or less, as well as compete for honors in a variety of categories. Live entertainment by the Private Stock Band, along with Animal Ambassadors and a silent auction at The Community House. Admission is $7; children under 12 years old are free.
