Officials: Sanibel Island Golf Club hit by vandals
January 9, 2019

A portion of the Sanibel Island Golf Club course was recently vandalized, according to officials.

During the late night hours on Dec. 28, damaged was apparently caused to the 7th green when a golf cart was driven back and forth across it. A report has been filed with the Sanibel Police Department, but officials are asking for the help of neighbors in keeping an eye out for any trespassers on the course.

"We have received so many compliments on the condition of the golf course this season, it is a little disheartening that someone would deliberately damage the course," golf professional Gene Taylor said.

"However, the maintenance crew jumped right on it and has tried to minimize the effects," he added. "We have been determined to improve the golf course, and this will not deter our commitment the our members and the community."

The Sanibel Island Golf Club is at 1100 Par View Drive.
